About

The Story Behind Ghana Steel

Founded in Tema in 2013. Built around one idea — make construction steel locally, to spec, without compromise. A decade in, we manufacture the material West Africa builds with.

A close-up shot of a person's hands and lap inside a modern car, likely a BMW (indicated by the logo on the steering wheel). The person is wearing a light-colored sweater and dark jeans. The driver's left hand is resting on the steering wheel. Through the windshield, a stone tower or lighthouse is visible in the background against a light sky.

Our Values

The Ghana Steel Commitment

We provide safe, modern, and supportive training that helps every learner build confidence.

Spec Over Story

Every product ships with documented grades, dimensions, and tolerances. Mill test certificates on every batch. No marketing-grade steel — only material that performs to spec on the site.

She is wearing a light-colored top and gripping the steering wheel. The interior features black leather seats and the view through the front window is blurred, suggesting the car is in motion.

Made in Tema

Manufactured locally, not imported and rebadged. Shorter lead times, no FX surprises on bulk orders, and steel engineered around the climate, codes, and load conditions it's actually going to face on a West African site.

One Yard, Full Catalogue

From 8mm rebar to a 60-metre clear-span warehouse — sourced, fabricated, and dispatched from one operation. Most projects need more than one product. Most clients would rather not coordinate three suppliers.

Our Story

Where Our Journey Started

Ghana Steel started in 2013 in Tema with a small operation — nails, wire mesh, and the everyday hardware that holds construction sites together. The early years were about getting the basics right: material that was honest, consistent, and locally available, in a market leaning heavily on imports.

A decade in, the catalogue runs from rebar to roofing to mining-grade plate, and the operation has scaled to match. The principle hasn't. Make it well. Ship it on time. Stand behind it. The same things that worked stamping nails are the same things we measure ourselves on now.
